Volunteer With Rescue Animals in Middle Tennessee
Fabled Farm Rescue & Sanctuary is completely volunteer run, and volunteers are an important part of caring for the rescued animals who call our farm home.
Located in Christiana, Tennessee, we offer hands-on volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups throughout Rutherford County and Middle Tennessee. Volunteers help with everything from animal care, grooming and socialization to cleaning, farm maintenance, fencing and construction projects.

What to Expect
Fabled Farm is a working animal rescue and sanctuary, so volunteering here is an active, hands-on experience. Volunteers should be comfortable being outdoors, getting dirty and working around farm animals.
Our property has uneven terrain and is not currently accessible for wheelchairs or walkers.
Volunteering With Children
Volunteers ages 10–17 are welcome with an accompanying adult. Because volunteering at Fabled Farm involves real farm work, please consider your child's interests and abilities when choosing a volunteer opportunity.
Families primarily interested in visiting the animals are encouraged to attend one of our scheduled Open House events instead.
Corporate & Group Volunteer Opportunities
Bring your team together while making a meaningful difference for rescued animals.
Fabled Farm Rescue & Sanctuary offers corporate team-building and large-group volunteer opportunities at our farm in Christiana, Tennessee.
Give back to the community while spending a meaningful day working alongside rescued animals. Projects are customized based on group size, participant ages, time of year, current sanctuary needs, and project budget. Past projects have included building outdoor enclosures for special-needs animals, repairing and constructing fencing, painting animal housing, planting seasonal gardens, clearing land, and other hands-on improvements around the farm.
Most group volunteer days are structured as 4–6 hour workdays, with time to enjoy lunch at our picnic tables in the middle. Each visit concludes with a guided tour of the farm and time to meet the animals whose lives are directly supported by the work completed that day. These experiences provide an opportunity to collaborate, give back, and leave knowing your efforts made a difference.
Group volunteer days require advance scheduling and a confirmed number of participants so we can plan an appropriate project, supplies, and staffing for your team.

All volunteer opportunities must be scheduled in advance. Fabled Farm is a private working rescue and sanctuary and is not open to the public for drop-in visits. Please use our volunteer signup or contact us about arranging a group volunteer day.
-
Once you complete our volunteer form, you'll receive an email with a link to our online volunteer SignUp calendar. From there, you can choose the available volunteer days that work best for your schedule. You're not committing to a regular schedule when you sign up—you can select opportunities based on your availability.

No! While animal, farm, construction, or other relevant experience can certainly be helpful, it isn't required. We have volunteer opportunities for a variety of skill levels, and we're happy to teach you what you need to know for the task you're helping with.
-
Volunteers must be at least 10 years old. Anyone under 18 must have an adult present with them while volunteering. Because this is a working farm, we encourage parents to consider whether their child is comfortable with hands-on work, getting dirty, and being around large animals.
-
Volunteer activities vary depending on what is needed at the sanctuary and may include feeding, grooming and socializing animals, cleaning and mucking, farm maintenance, fencing, construction projects, land clearing, fundraising, events, and other hands-on projects.
-
Usually, but volunteering is a working experience rather than an animal-visiting opportunity. Some volunteer jobs involve working directly with animals, while others may focus on cleaning, maintenance, fencing, or projects that support their care. If you're primarily interested in visiting and meeting the animals, one of our scheduled Open House events is a better fit.
-
Wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting dirty and closed-toe shoes appropriate for a working farm. Depending on the weather and project, sunscreen, bug spray, a hat, work gloves, and a refillable water bottle may also be helpful.
-
Fabled Farm is a working farm with uneven ground, gravel, grass, mud, and other natural terrain. Unfortunately, the property is not currently accessible for wheelchairs or walkers. If you have other physical limitations, please contact us before signing up and we'll let you know whether we have an appropriate volunteer opportunity available.
