Piper McChomper’s Story

Sometimes saying yes does not come with a plan. It comes with an emergency call. A tiny kitten. And no guarantees.

This is why we say yes.

The Call

Piper was just five weeks old and barely half a pound when we were contacted about her. A stray kitten attacked by a German Shepherd. During the attack, half of her face was ripped off and partially crushed.

A kind stranger rushed her to a veterinarian who was able to immediately start pain medication and antibiotics. Soon after, we were contacted and began arranging the specialized care she would need to survive.

That care meant a trip to Nashville to see our feline veterinarian, Dr. Tobe Singleton.

At that moment, there were no promises of outcome. Only a choice.

We said yes.

Care Without Guarantees

Dr. Tobe was able to remove Piper’s crushed teeth, deeply clean her wounds, and save her eye. After delicate stitches and laser therapy, she came to the Fabled Farm Small Animal ICU for continued care.

She was tiny. She was fragile. And she was very opinionated about her medications.

Because of her size, she was named Thumbelina. Because of her attitude, she earned the nickname Chompers. McChompsalot. Chompelina. Eventually, Piper McChomper.

Despite everything she had endured, Piper made one thing clear. She was a fighter.

As she grew, she underwent multiple procedures to remove scar tissue and support healing. Because she was still developing, her long-term medical needs were unknown and remain so today. Saying yes meant committing to her care without knowing what the future would require.

What Yes Can Become

Piper did not just survive. She thrived. She grew up alongside the building of our farm store and even helped add finishing touches of cat hair to a few special items. She won over everyone she met with her confidence and personality.

Today, Thumbelina is officially Piper. She and her best friend Buttons remain at Fabled Farm as our beloved store kitties, where their favorite job is greeting visitors and collecting pets.

Piper’s story is not just about rescue. It is about what happens when an animal is given the time, safety, and care to heal fully, even when the outcome is uncertain.

This is why we say yes to seniors. This is why we say yes to medical cases. This is why we say yes when others cannot.

How You Make Yes Possible

Saying yes is only possible because of our community. Monthly donors allow us to respond immediately to emergencies, fund specialized veterinary care, and commit to animals whose needs do not end after the first procedure. When the next call comes, we want to be able to answer it.
